I have recently been thinking a lot about worship; the who, what, where, when and why of it all. I have come to the conclusion that worship is more than just the singing and stomping, praying and praising that takes place on Sundays at 11am. Worship is our expression of devotion to and adoration of God. It is our way of honoring God. Worship is a lifestyle. So it follows that I worship or honor God in my finances, through my work ethic, through the care and treatment of my family. I worship when I dance, when I sing hymns at church or in the shower.
Showing up to rehearsal 20 minutes after the start time with no explanation does not honor God. Putting everything, from baby showers and parties to cookouts and hair appointments before dance ministry does not honor God. Getting members to commit in a world where we are so afraid of missing out on the next best thing will always be a challenge. But take heart, God will send you those who are fully surrendered to Him and called to the work of ministry through dance. Those who are not fully committed, whose hearts are elsewhere, will weed themselves out.
